The klismos chair is an ancient chair form that the Greeks popularized, and is also one of the most easily recognizable ones. It attained its most perfect form in the 5th century BC. Over centuries, and over a wider geographical area this chair shape's popularity has persisted, and it keeps showing up even today. It got a new lease on life with the Revival styles in Europe and has continued to inspire furniture designers through the ages.
Because the shape lends itself well to narrower designs, today you often find it reflected in dining chairs. However, the chair form is equally popular in accent seating as well because it is so elegant.
The great thing about these klismos chairs is that they are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
